The devil went for a walk with a friend. They saw a man ahead of them stoop down and pick up something from the ground.
“What did that man find?” asked the friend.
“A piece of Truth,” said the devil.
“Doesn’t that disturb you?” asked the friend.
“No,” said the devil, “I shall let him make a belief out of it.”
悪魔が友人と散歩をしていた。すると前方に、一人の男がかがみこんで地面から何かを拾い上げているのが見えた。
「あの男は何を見つけたんだ？」と友人が尋ねた。
「真理の欠片さ」と悪魔は答えた。
「それって君にとってはマズいんじゃないの？」と友人が聞くと、
「いや、」と悪魔は答えた。
「あいつをそそのかして、あの欠片から教義を作り出すように仕向けるさ」
